Women with ADHD are still too often missed, misunderstood, or diagnosed late, with many spending years adapting to difficulties that are quietly exhausting beneath the surface.
This webinar, hosted by Dr James Kustow, explores how ADHD can present differently in women across the lifespan, including the ways it may be masked by high achievement, people-pleasing, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, or chronic self-doubt.
It also considers why traditional ideas about ADHD have so often failed to capture these presentations clearly enough, and how that can shape both diagnosis and support.
Through a clinically informed and compassionate lens, the session looks at how hormonal changes intersect with ADHD in women, from puberty and the menstrual cycle, through pregnancy and the postnatal period, into perimenopause and menopause.
Dr Kustow will explore how shifting hormone profiles can intensify ADHD symptoms, disrupt emotional regulation, or alter sleep and cognitive functioning, sometimes revealing difficulties that have been partially compensated for earlier in life.
The webinar is designed to help participants think more confidently about recognition, formulation and treatment at each of these stages, alongside the relational and occupational pressures women may be managing.
In keeping with The Grove’s broader ADHD programme and whole-body perspective, this session offers an evidence-based exploration that is both practical and thoughtful, with space for nuance rather than oversimplification.
Hosted by one of the UK’s leading adult ADHD psychiatrists, it aims to support people to understand the complexity of ADHD, hormones and menopause in women’s lives, in a way that is validating, inclusive and clinically robust.
