Thrive with adult ADHD – A day with Dr James Kustow

Welcoming individuals who have or suspect they have Adult ADHD. This groundbreaking, Zoom-based course is designed to provide inspiration and direction, for individuals who have ADHD (or strongly suspect they have it), in addition to professionals working in (or interested in working in) the fast moving field of adult ADHD. A bringing together of the adult ADHD community, hosted by The Grove.

Course overview:

Dr James Kustow is a London-based consultant psychiatrist and leading expert and educator in the field of Adult ADHD. He also happens to be the Medical Director of The Grove, and the author of an exciting new Penguin book titled ‘How to Thrive with adult ADHD’.

In conversation with Robert Rees, and with participant engagement and interactivity, James hopes to reinvigorate and broaden your understanding of ADHD and how to best manage it. Having recently ‘outed’ his own ADHD in his book, he will be sharing unique personal and professional insights and providing essential guidance on approach and road-mapping. His overarching aim is to help you reset your trajectory to thriving, rather than simply surviving, when it comes to living or working with ADHD.

This one-day ‘startline’ course, as James and Robert have coined it, will be focussed on the approach to eliciting and unpacking one’s unique ‘ADHD-signature’ and then, more intelligently shaping and managing it in daily life, and more proficiently navigating the challenges it will likely present. Participants will gain a novel and more nuanced understanding of and narrative around ADHD – its imprint (both adverse and potentially adaptive), its’ fascinating emergent associations, and broad ranging system-wide biological underpinnings and mechanisms.

As well as getting a perspective-changing birds eye view, participants will also leave with an initial starter’s tool-kit of practical strategies for organization, and time management; and a window-front of emotional regulation tools and techniques, for more effective stress management and mindful living. The workshop also highlights the importance of effective communication, especially during difficult and charged conversations.

Attendees will be invited to engage in safe and discreet small group discussions and create and curate personal action plans, whilst in parallel helping nurture and build a more open and supportive community, within the safety and years of experience of The Grove. By the end of the day, participants will leave with insights, tools and direction tailored to their individual journey.
