Learn new and exciting ways to conceptualise and make sense of Adult ADHD, for you and your clients, and support you to work with it creatively, holistically and therapeutically. The course also includes a foundational level ADHD coaching skills approach. Regardless of your primary modality, if you want to really understand, and learn to work effectively with individuals with ADHD, this is the course for you.
This unique training course is for psychotherapists, psychologists (counselling and clinical), counsellors, coaches, family and relationship therapists, psychiatrists, GPs, occupational therapists, social workers and other health professionals currently working with, or planning to be working with adults with ADHD.
We will orientate you to new and exciting ways to conceptualise and make sense of ADHD, for you and your clients, and support you to work with it creatively, holistically and therapeutically. Regardless of your primary modality, if you want to really understand, and learn to work effectively with individuals with ADHD, this is the course for you.
The programme has a therapeutic and lifestyle orientation, and it encourages and promotes an open, collaborative, and coaching-style approach. It is, however, not a formal ADHD coaching training, and we also do not teach you how to carry out formal diagnostic assessments, or how to advise on or prescribe medication for ADHD.
We feel it is essential to provide some orientation with respect to the journey of assessment and the criteria used to diagnose ADHD, in addition to a succinct but up-to-date and evidence-based overview of the medication and prescribing landscape. Having a solid foundational understanding in these clinical areas is fundamental to optimal care, and is in our view necessary if you are going to be working in this field.
We encourage participants to re-train with us every few years in order to stay up to date with respect to new developments, and to keep refreshed regarding one’s knowledge and skills. The course will adapt and grow as we discover more about this fascinating condition and learn how to work with it even more skilfully.
And we recognise that many, but certainly not all of those who choose to work in this field therapeutically, themselves have ADHD, or have had close relations with someone, often a family member, who does. Our training has been developed with this in mind, with a central focus on practitioner self-care and personal development through and beyond this learning experience.
We at The Grove pride ourselves on exceptionally high-quality education in the mental health domain, and this course is no exception. We have been training therapists and coaches for many years now, but with Dr James Kustow’s internationally recognised expertise, innovation and leadership in the field of adult ADHD, and his highly respected teaching style, this unique course strives to be cutting-edge and truly world-class. We do recommend that participants read (or listen to) Dr Kustow’s book, ‘How to Thrive with adult ADHD’ (published by Penguin) as part of an informal, foundational learning commitment, prior to attending the training.
There is a strong body-focus weaving its way through the programme. We believe that for too long now ADHD has been narrowly understood to be solely a brain or mind problem. It is also, in many ways, a body problem, and we are excited to orientate you to more multisystem, perspective of this curious disorder, and demonstrate how the body, through its optimal regulation, holds the key to effective management.
The Adult ADHD+ course is a comprehensive training program crafted for professionals who work with adults impacted by ADHD. This course aims to shift perspectives on ADHD, viewing it not only as a neurodevelopmental condition but also as a multisystem disorder affecting both mind and body. With an emphasis on therapeutic and lifestyle approaches, the training equips participants with practical tools for understanding, assessing, and supporting adults with ADHD in ways that foster growth, resilience, and empowerment. Led by Dr. James Kustow, an internationally recognized authority on ADHD, the program fosters a collaborative, holistic, and strengths-based approach to care. Professionals will leave with enhanced skills in addressing ADHD’s complexities, navigating co-existing conditions, and helping clients achieve sustainable, positive change in their lives.

Why the “+” in Adult ADHD+?
ADHD is rarely a standalone diagnosis—it often travels with co-existing mental, physical, and emotional challenges that influence each individual’s experience. The “+” in Adult ADHD+ represents this complexity, acknowledging the interconnectedness of ADHD with issues like emotional regulation, lifestyle impacts, and the broader mind-body connection.

The Grove Practice is accredited by NCIP (National Council for Integrative Psychotherapists) as a CPD training centre. As such, all The Grove’s courses are awarded NCIP accreditation for CPD (Continuous Professional Development).
This accreditation provides reassurance regarding high standards of teaching and course content.
The Grove’s courses have been successfully recognised as CPD for members of the following membership bodies: BACP, UKCP, COSRT, NCIP, NCPS, AHPP, BPS, among others. Organisations such as Relate and MIND and Place2B have also supported their therapists in taking training with The Grove. This is a mark of unofficial validation of our courses as worthy of being listed on the CPD logs for these members and organisations.
This Certificate course is taught at Level 6 equivalence. The Diploma course is taught at Level 7 equivalence. This training is a post-qualification course designed for mature professionals who are established in their way of working according to their original therapeutic training. This is a post-qualification training which requires theoretical evaluation, self-reflection, and interpretation of how to apply the models of emotional regulation in therapeutic settings such as clinical practice or multi-disciplinary teams in organisations. The designation “Level 6” is drawn from the numbered educational levels according to Ofqual’s Regulated Qualification Framework operating in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. (Scotland has its own educational levels in place.) The Grove is setting its own courses at a training level in line with industry-wide language for setting the academic level of the course.
Our guidance to anyone researching CPD courses is to ask any training provider stating a Level, to provide the Ofqual qualification number (which looks like this 601/8674/4). If the training provider cannot give this information for their course, then the course is unlikely to be allocated an official Level by Ofqual. In our view, any other course provider should state that their course is taught “at a level equivalent to Level x but is not a qualification regulated by Ofqual”. This approach is implemented by The Grove.
