Two Bodies in the Room: Relational Body Psychotherapy

This webinar explores the Relational model, highlighting how two bodies co‑create the therapeutic relationship and how your own embodied responses can become vital clinical information.

The Body Psychotherapy Series
Session 3 of 4
Friday 4th December
14:00-16:00 (UK)

Focus event In-depth clinical learning on a key area of practice, guided by leading experts.

Event overview:

The Relational model treats embodied relating as the ground of all psychotherapy, including talking therapy. It attends closely to how the client’s and therapist’s bodies affect one another: how bodies cue each other into repeating familiar interactional scripts learned early in life, and how shifts in the body can mark genuine relational change.

Many therapists notice how differently they act, feel and even sit with different clients. In this 2‑hour webinar, we will use the Relational model to think more deeply about these differences, and about how our own bodily responses can be used to shape and direct the work. The ruling metaphor might be an improvised dance where neither partner leads, but the pattern is co‑constructed.

We will examine:

  • The Relational model as an embodied ground for all psychotherapy
  • How bodies co‑create and maintain interactional scripts in the consulting room
  • Using your own somatic responses as information, rather than background noise
  • Attending to power, difference and history in the embodied relationship
  • Practical ways to work with distance, posture, timing and micro‑movement in live relational process

Attention will be given to how structural power and marginalisation live in bodies, and how therapists can avoid re‑enacting these dynamics through unexamined embodied habits.

Clinical Takeaway

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Describe the Relational model and why embodied relating is central to psychotherapy
  • Track and use embodied countertransference and co‑regulation as core clinical data
  • Work more intentionally with bodily patterns that repeat across your client relationships
  • Integrate questions of power, identity and history into embodied relational practice

Frequently Asked Questions

The Grove Series is our programme of themed CPD pathways. Each series is a set of live, two-hour Zoom webinars that explore one subject in depth across several sessions, led by experienced practitioners. You can follow the whole series for a joined-up learning journey, or dip into the sessions most relevant to your practice.

If you’ve booked the whole series, you don’t need to do anything: you’ll receive the recording for every session, so you can catch up in your own time.

If you’re booking an individual session you can’t attend live, choose an option that includes the recording.

If you’d also like a CPD certificate, choose recording + CPD certificate, and watch the full recording before using the certificate as CPD evidence.

Recording access lasts 12 months.

Already missed an event? Visit our post-event purchase page to purchase an available recording or CPD certificate.

If you have purchased a recording and do not attend, you will still receive a link to watch the recording via email.

If you have purchased a recording and CPD certificate and do not attend, you will still be sent both the link to watch the recording and your CPD certificate.

If you purchased a CPD certificate without a recording and do not attend the live event, you will not be sent a CPD certificate.

If you would like to purchase a recording of a missed event, you can do so via our post-event purchase page.

If slides and handouts are provided for the event, they will only be sent to people who attend live and/or have purchased a recording.

Both. You can:

  • Book the whole series: our best-value option. It includes live attendance at every session, plus the recording and a CPD certificate for each one.
  • Book individual sessions: choose one, several or all of the sessions, and decide for each one whether you’d also like the recording, a CPD certificate, or both.

Prices for each option are shown when you book.

Your joining details will be sent by Zoom to the email address you use to register.

If you’ve booked the whole series, you’ll receive separate joining details for each session.

Please check your spam, junk or promotions folder if you cannot see them.

Zoom reminders are scheduled for 1 week, 1 day and 1 hour before the event, depending on when you register.

If you have not received your joining details by 24 hours before the event, or you book closer to the start time and need help, please contact info@thegrovepractice.com.

All event times are listed in UK time – GMT or BST, depending on the time of year. Please check your local time if you are joining from overseas.

Please do not connect AI recording software to the event or webinar. If you do, you will be removed from the event.

Select the option that suits how you would like to take part:

  • Whole series: live attendance at every session, the recording of every session and a CPD certificate for every session.
  • Individual session, attendance only: live access to that session, including Q&A and peer chat. No recording link or CPD certificate.
  • Individual session + CPD certificate: live access and a CPD certificate for that session, provided you attend live.
  • Individual session + recording: live access plus 12 months’ access to that session’s recording.
  • Individual session + recording + CPD certificate: live access, 12 months’ access to the recording, and a CPD certificate.

Available options and prices are shown when you register. Please check your selection before completing your booking.

If you purchase recording access before the event, we will usually email your access link within 1-3 working days after the event.

If you purchase an available recording through our post-event purchase page, we will email your access link within 24 hours of purchase.

Recording access lasts 12 months.

Recordings are for your personal learning only and must not be shared, downloaded, edited or distributed.

You’ll receive a CPD certificate for each session, emailed within 5 working days after that session, as long as you attended live or your booking includes the recording. Each session is worth 2 CPD hours.

Whole-series bookers will receive one certificate per session, not a single series certificate.

If you’re watching a recording instead of attending live, please watch the full recording before using the certificate as CPD evidence.

For eligible purchases made through our post-event purchase page, we will email the certificate download link within 24 hours.

Visit our post-event purchase page to see the recordings and CPD certificates available to purchase.

Complete series recordings will also be available on our online learning platform after each series ends.

Please use an email address you can access and check that it is entered correctly when you register.

If we ask you to confirm your email address, please follow the link in the confirmation email.

We will use this address to send information relating to your booking, including:

  • booking and purchase confirmations
  • joining details from Zoom
  • any recordings or CPD certificates you have purchased
  • slides and handouts from the event, if provided

Check your spam, junk or promotions folder if it does not arrive.
