Given that we are all bodies, what defines body psychotherapy in practice?
One starting point is a conscious awareness of being a body, and of how our own body is affected by our client’s – through breath, posture, tension and movement.

In this 2‑hour webinar, we’ll explore embodiment as the ground of psychotherapy and how, whether we name it or not, it underpins the whole of the work.

We will sketch out the four models that shape The Body Psychotherapy Series, Adjustment, Trauma/Discharge, Relational and Process‑oriented, and then focus more deeply on the earliest of these: the Adjustment model.

This model offers clients different ways of holding themselves, moving and breathing, in order to allow greater energy, relaxation and flexibility in how they live and relate.

We will examine:

  • The role of embodiment in psychotherapy, including in primarily “talking” modalities
  • Key features of the Adjustment model and how it emerged historically in body psychotherapy
  • Ways of working with breath, posture and movement to open more space in the system
  • How to invite bodily change while avoiding a “fixing what is wrong” stance
  • Situations where adjustment‑oriented work can be especially helpful, and where it may not be the first choice

We will also look at the ethical and relational pitfalls of the Adjustment model, including the risk of imposing ideas of “normal” or “healthy” embodiment onto clients. By attending to consent, pacing and the client’s own sense of rightness, we can use adjustment interventions to support curiosity and possibility, rather than correction.

Clinical takeaway

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Articulate the four models in the Body Psychotherapy Series and how they interlock
  • Notice breath, posture and movement as core clinical information in your sessions
  • Introduce simple adjustment‑based invitations without slipping into “fixing mode”
  • Gauge when bodily expansion is likely to resource, and when it might overwhelm
  • Integrate an adjustment lens into your existing modality without rebranding as a somatic therapist

The Grove Series is our programme of themed CPD pathways. Each series is a set of live, two-hour Zoom webinars that explore one subject in depth across several sessions, led by experienced practitioners. You can follow the whole series for a joined-up learning journey, or dip into the sessions most relevant to your practice.

If you’ve booked the whole series, you don’t need to do anything: you’ll receive the recording for every session, so you can catch up in your own time.

If you’re booking an individual session you can’t attend live, choose an option that includes the recording.

If you’d also like a CPD certificate, choose recording + CPD certificate, and watch the full recording before using the certificate as CPD evidence.

Recording access lasts 12 months.

Already missed an event? Visit our post-event purchase page to purchase an available recording or CPD certificate.

If you have purchased a recording and do not attend, you will still receive a link to watch the recording via email.

If you have purchased a recording and CPD certificate and do not attend, you will still be sent both the link to watch the recording and your CPD certificate.

If you purchased a CPD certificate without a recording and do not attend the live event, you will not be sent a CPD certificate.

If you would like to purchase a recording of a missed event, you can do so via our post-event purchase page.

If slides and handouts are provided for the event, they will only be sent to people who attend live and/or have purchased a recording.

Both. You can:

  • Book the whole series: our best-value option. It includes live attendance at every session, plus the recording and a CPD certificate for each one.
  • Book individual sessions: choose one, several or all of the sessions, and decide for each one whether you’d also like the recording, a CPD certificate, or both.

Prices for each option are shown when you book.

Your joining details will be sent by Zoom to the email address you use to register.

If you’ve booked the whole series, you’ll receive separate joining details for each session.

Please check your spam, junk or promotions folder if you cannot see them.

Zoom reminders are scheduled for 1 week, 1 day and 1 hour before the event, depending on when you register.

If you have not received your joining details by 24 hours before the event, or you book closer to the start time and need help, please contact info@thegrovepractice.com.

All event times are listed in UK time – GMT or BST, depending on the time of year. Please check your local time if you are joining from overseas.

Please do not connect AI recording software to the event or webinar. If you do, you will be removed from the event.

Select the option that suits how you would like to take part:

  • Whole series: live attendance at every session, the recording of every session and a CPD certificate for every session.
  • Individual session, attendance only: live access to that session, including Q&A and peer chat. No recording link or CPD certificate.
  • Individual session + CPD certificate: live access and a CPD certificate for that session, provided you attend live.
  • Individual session + recording: live access plus 12 months’ access to that session’s recording.
  • Individual session + recording + CPD certificate: live access, 12 months’ access to the recording, and a CPD certificate.

Available options and prices are shown when you register. Please check your selection before completing your booking.

If you purchase recording access before the event, we will usually email your access link within 1-3 working days after the event.

If you purchase an available recording through our post-event purchase page, we will email your access link within 24 hours of purchase.

Recording access lasts 12 months.

Recordings are for your personal learning only and must not be shared, downloaded, edited or distributed.

You’ll receive a CPD certificate for each session, emailed within 5 working days after that session, as long as you attended live or your booking includes the recording. Each session is worth 2 CPD hours.

Whole-series bookers will receive one certificate per session, not a single series certificate.

If you’re watching a recording instead of attending live, please watch the full recording before using the certificate as CPD evidence.

For eligible purchases made through our post-event purchase page, we will email the certificate download link within 24 hours.

Visit our post-event purchase page to see the recordings and CPD certificates available to purchase.

Complete series recordings will also be available on our online learning platform after each series ends.

Please use an email address you can access and check that it is entered correctly when you register.
