Join us on 26th November 2024, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, for an Open Evening at The Grove. Discover our Foundation in Counselling & Psychotherapy course, meet the tutors, to learn how this program can enhance your relational skills. This course also provides a pathway to deeper personal development and provide certification as a Mental Health First Aider as a stepping stone to qualifying as a therapist.
If you are interested in yourself and your own personal development, that is a great start-point for joining this course. You’ll learn more about psychology models, managing your emotions, how to uphold your own needs while communicating in a heartfelt way to stay in relationship with other people while maintaining your own sense of integrity.
If you are at a choice point in your career, wondering whether there’s more meaningful work for you to do, then this course could be a great stepping stone. Maybe you are thinking about working with people rather than a corporate career or you’ve simply had enough of crass organisational politics. Perhaps being a therapist could give you flexibility and autonomy and purpose.
Another possibility is if you’ve had a major shift in your perspective on life such as receiving a diagnosis of a major illness, or suffering a profound loss, or relationship breakup. This course could provide a way to make this a breakthrough rather than a breakdown.
This is exactly the process that The Grove’s directors each went through before we decided to train as therapists.
There’s a lot of heart and intention behind considering a new direction as an occupation. It takes a few years to qualify as a counsellor or psychotherapist – and the training costs are significant. That’s why taking a foundation course as an initial stepping stone could be a really wise idea to check if you do want to pursue further training to qualify as a counsellor or psychotherapist.
The Foundation in Counselling & Psychotherapy at The Grove offers a comprehensive introduction to diverse therapeutic frameworks, including psychodynamic, humanistic, trauma-informed, and integrative approaches. The course emphasizes understanding human growth, developing self-reflection, and applying therapeutic skills in professional and personal contexts. It also includes certification in Mental Health First Aid, equipping students to recognize and respond to mental health crises. Structured across three terms, the course balances theoretical learning with practical application through weekly sessions and intensive weekend seminars, covering foundational skills, trauma, advanced practices, and professional issues.
