I am very glad to be alive during this period of planetary evolution. This ‘Shift’ of the Ages – and of consciousness – has been described by Lynne McTaggart as heralding “a revolution as daring and profound as Einstein’s discovery of relativity” (“The Field” 2002).
In terms of my own shift in consciousness, I grew up in an environment of transgenerational mental illness. I felt inherently ‘bad’, spending years searching for healing – for myself, my family and for the immense suffering of my gentle sister who struggled with agonizing paranoid schizophrenia
After years of analysis and analytical psychology I too continued to experience tortured anxieties and a sense of ‘what is wrong with me?’ Theories I explored had tended to emphasise psychopathology with little recognition of our inherent goodness, and I didn’t feel much happier after therapy – something seemed to be missing and it was the soothing vibrations of music which provided solace. ‘Choosing the Path of Joy’ – a chapter in my book – describes the bleakness of a ‘dark night of the soul’ where I despaired of ever being able to help my sister. However, a life-changing ‘awakening’ into spaciousness and compassion radically altered this view.
This embodied experience of light expanded my consciousness. Peace permeated my entire being and I came ‘home’ to a connection with ‘the – all’ – the 5D ‘Unified Field’ of quantum consciousness. I can understand how Kuntuzangpo (the name of the buddha) – means ‘always well’. The feeling of badness which had always plagued me left, and this first experience of innate goodness provided profound relief, leading to a radical re-evaluation of the nature of reality.
Awakening is something we can all experience since this is our fundamental true nature. We are currently being helped by waves of high vibrational aetheric light pouring onto our planet which is facilitating people to open their hearts. When we awaken from 3D egoic consciousness to what I call soul-connecting (connection with Source or 5D) there are major implications for psychotherapy.
Everything is energy. The often-quoted inventor Nikola Tesla once said: ‘If you wish to understand the universe, think of energy, frequency and vibration’. In exploring the world of energy, our thoughts and emotions resonate at unique frequencies, with Dr Hawkin’s vibrational scale measuring traumatic guilt and shame as very low – 20 and 30 Hz respectively – whereas the higher states of love, joy and peace resonate at 500 and above. I discovered that chanting the Heart Sutra and other mantras was deeply calming and brought me to peace*. Simply put – the more we raise our frequency, the happier we are. * Please feel free to download this chant.
I was so grateful when I came across the heart-centred approach of energy psychotherapy. This too can help raise our vibration and bring feelings of our worth. In this new paradigm, we could understand the therapeutic task as that of removing the ‘heavy’ (lower vibrational) clouds of trauma, negative thoughts and emotions to reveal our inherent true sun-like nature. And moreover, people find the simplicity of these self-empowering self-applied methods easy to use and very transformative.
This may sound a bit ‘too-good-to-be-true’ and not everyone takes to this approach. However, EP is actually very safe and grounded, combining core therapeutic skills within a holistic multidimensional perspective – including the transgenerational and transpersonal – to regulate people and bring about balance.
Our consciousness, mind, emotions, body, spirit and life force (subtle energy/libido/ prana) are synergistically interconnected in what I term bodymindenergy. We clear trauma through the meridians, energy centres (chakras) and ‘thoughtfields’, releasing traumatic stress via our neural pathways. Alongside the usual benefits of relational talking therapy, the new therapeutic focus is characterised by quantum ‘flow’ where we can – relatively effortlessly- clear trauma from our bodies to bring in peace and calm.
Energy Psychotherapy honours the natural intrinsic wholeness and goodness of people and facilitates the wisdom and intelligence of “free associations” which naturally emerge from the bodymindenergy, giving expression to the unconscious. Following the flow of this guides the work. We can address a wide range of issues: therapeutic blockages; integrating the fragmentation and ‘shadow’ borne out of trauma in non -shaming ways; pre-verbal trauma, in-utero and birth trauma; complex trauma and PTSD; healthy strengthening of the fragmented ego; and the creation of healthy resilient ‘energy boundaries’. EP specialises in removing the traumatic ‘repetition compulsions’ which are held at a cellular level in our bodies– once removed, our traumatised nervous systems become regulated and no longer negatively impact us. We feel ‘lighter’.
Therapists from any theoretical background can easily integrate this way of working and it also provides helpful resources for clients and others as a means of emotional regulation. This approach is grounded in developmental understandings, honours the importance of relational work, and recognises the key sensate role played by our bodies when working with trauma. It has an excellent evidence base, and research shows its methods to be effective and long lasting
I found that clearing my pre-verbal and birth trauma was completely transformative, and helped overcome my deep anxieties, triggering and complexes. My experience – and that of many clients and other psychotherapists who practice in this way – is that by raising our vibration, we feel much happier! I feel passionate about sharing this vibrational approach and hope that my introductory talk – which also provides a taster of self- empowering self-applied methods – might encourage you to discover the amazing wisdom and healing of energy psychotherapy and /or train in this approach yourselves.
