James Hobson is a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, specialising in adult mental health and psychological trauma. James’ experience has been garnered in psychological therapies services in the health service working with adults presenting with moderate to severe complexity. James has experience of working with the range of common mental health presentations, including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD (Types I & II) and personality disorders. James has special interest in psychological trauma sequelae with particular experience in supporting individuals traumatised as a consequence of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
James’ training as a Counselling Psychologist has provided grounding in Humanistic psychotherapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy. Further, James is qualified as an EMDR practitioner and is a certified Schema Therapist. James’ priority in practice is a Pluralist approach, finding the right approach for the presentation, the individual and their circumstances.
James has experience of delivering teaching and training within the health service to service users and staff and also within universities to undergraduate and postgraduate students. For this course, James presents on the trauma landscape and with an overview of treatment approaches for psychological trauma.
