Practitioner Statement

Emma Yates offers warm, compassionate and person-centred counselling and psychotherapy in York for children, young people, adults and couples. Emma is a qualified and experienced therapist, Willow Therapy provides a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.

Emma has a particular interest in working with children and young people, including those experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, school difficulties, bereavement, family changes and relationship challenges. She is neurodiversity-affirming and works with autistic and ADHD children and young people from an understanding and accepting perspective, supporting them to understand themselves rather than feeling they need to change who they are.

Willow Therapy also offers individual counselling for adults and relationship therapy for couples. Emma takes an integrative approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s individual needs, experiences and goals. Her work is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirming and grounded in empathy, respect and collaboration.

Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, your teenager or your relationship, Willow Therapy offers a calm and welcoming space to explore what is happening and consider what might help. Online sessions are also available alongside in-person therapy in York.
