If you’ve experienced a particular event or a distressing period of time that has affected your life; you may be suffering from the after effects of trauma (commonly known as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD) and may be left with a combination of the reactions listed below. We understand that after such an incident; it may feel difficult to function for some time. Our professional team of therapists are trained in trauma counselling and allow you to explore ways to facilitate healing and recovery.

We’re able to help you if you’re experiencing:

  • Flashbacks of an incident or fear of repetition of the traumatic events
  • Disturbed sleep including nightmares or recurring dreams
  • Feeling you are somehow bad or to blame
  • Mood swings, anger or depression
  • Violence or self-harm
  • Difficulties in relating to others or sexual problems
  • Troubling use of drugs or alcohol or other substances to numb the feeling
  • Becoming more reclusive or isolated
  • Feeling out of touch with reality or different from other people

The Grove can provide access to all the support that might be needed to support you. This includes a psychiatrist for medication to bring relief from distressing symptoms, as well as clinical psychologists who can offer therapy such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) which are recommended treatments in the NICE guidelines (National Institute for Clinical Excellence). The Grove works with a team of traumatologists who are trained in a systematic treatment approach for trauma and PTSD which includes a range of other trauma treatment protocols. This ensures that anyone suffering from trauma can be assured of accessing high quality treatment that has an effective evidence base.

Get support for post traumatic stress disorder

  • Being involved in a war or armed conflict
  • Involvement in a crime
  • Transport disaster
  • Terrorism event
  • Violence, whether domestic or criminal
  • Bullying at school or work
  • Witnessing a horrific event

The Grove also works with a number of corporate clients, firms of solicitors and insurance companies, providing trauma therapy to those affected by major incidents, high profile disasters, or criminal events. As part of our trauma therapy service, we provide tailored responses to critical incidents such as a traumatic death at work, or the provision of trauma therapy where a high number of employees or members of the public are affected. For these services, a bespoke response is tailored to the specific needs in each case, where The Grove draws from our network of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, specialists in treating children and families, as well as a team of traumatologists.
