Success stories

It’s fantastic to hear how the course learning has been used by our students. That’s the reason we run these trainings, so that therapy in the wider world is empowered with enhanced skills where it is so much needed. The Grove features these success stories with the kind permission of each practitioner. We are proud to see these powerful stories coming to life as a result of training with The Grove.

Our learners come from a range of work roles, such as private practice, NHS roles as clinical leads and supervisors, or service managers in counselling organisations. They may work with children and young people, bereavement services or palliative care, or in education setting like schools or colleges or universities.

We are also glad to welcome a diverse range of backgrounds and characteristics of the learners in our cohorts, which enriches the learning experience for all involved and spreads enhanced practice into those communities. Many participants are drawn from charity organisations serving populations such as the LGBTQ+ community, refugees, or survivors of sex crimes and domestic violence.

Success stories are individual stories. Each attendee will bring to the course their lived experience and positionality.

So we are very pleased to see diversity in every cohort, which enriches the learning experience for everyone. Working with difference is intrinsic to the way we run our courses.

We have welcomed learners who let us know about dyslexia or ADHD or hearing loss or that they will attend the course with their guide dog.

We circulate course materials in advance of each teaching date, to enable each participant to familiarise themselves according to their own learning style.

These are some of the practical things we can do to support engagement in their course learning. Yet there is always more work to do in supporting inclusivity – and we are open to hearing from each student about their educational needs.

Our commitment to inclusivity is enshrined in The Grove’s Diversity and Respect Statement.
